Melissa Butler left Wall Street to start The Lip Bar in her Brooklyn apartment in 2012. After a Shark Tank rejection became the brand's best marketing moment, she grew TLB into one of the most recognizable Black-owned makeup brands in America: and brought it home to Detroit.
