VC-BackedKnown For
Launched Oui The People (originally Oui Shave) around a single-blade razor built to prevent razor bumps and ingrown hairs, then grew it into a bodycare brand that refuses to market shaving and skincare as self-improvement.
The Story
Karen Young spent years in product development before launching Oui Shave in 2015, engineering a single-blade razor for the razor bumps and ingrown hairs that multi-blade razors inflict on coarse and curly hair. In 2019 she rebranded to Oui The People and expanded into bodycare, stripping the shame-based language out of the category: no 'flaws,' no 'imperfections,' no selling women a problem to fix.
