Meet The Founder
Lisa Price
Founder · Brooklyn, NY
AcquiredKnown For
The original indie Black beauty founder: started selling from her Brooklyn kitchen in 1993. Acquired by L'Oréal in 2014 and stayed to protect the brand's soul.
The Story
Lisa Price started Carol's Daughter in 1993 from her Brooklyn kitchen, selling at church fairs and flea markets. Named after her mother Carol, the brand grew into one of the first Black-owned beauty companies to achieve national retail distribution: and a cultural touchstone for a generation of naturals.
